Commercial & Corporate

In 1999, Don was asked by Ernst and Young to form and operate a joint venture focused on dispute resolution processes and technologies. This provided direct experience with the challenges faced by start-up and early stage companies. In managing the joint venture, Don oversaw the design and development of three software programs. He holds a patent on one of the programs.   Since returning to practice in 2002, Don has worked with a number of entrepreneurs and small companies, providing both a range of legal services and strategic and practical business counseling. The legal work for early stage and smaller companies includes:

  • Corporate formation and operating agreements
  • Joint venture agreements
  • Employment contracts
  • Sales and warranty documents
  • Buy-sell agreements
  • Leases
  • Independent contractor agreements
  • Corporate acquisitions

In addition to providing basic legal services to early stage companies, Don is often asked to assist clients on strategic and tactical business issues. He currently sits on the Board of NRG Logistics, a company introducing technology to significantly reduce fuel costs for the long-haul trucking industry. Based on his extensive experience and contacts in the insurance industry, Don is currently serving in a business advisory capacity, as well as providing legal services, for several companies that are introducing new insurance products to the market.
